Who the MS-ISAC Serves
The MS-ISAC is the nation’s trusted cybersecurity partner for U.S. State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) government organizations. We work across key sectors including law enforcement and public safety, education, healthcare, and critical infrastructure to help our members strengthen their cyber resilience and reduce risk.
At the core of MS-ISAC is the delivery of actionable threat intelligence and services like Malicious Domain Blocking and Reporting (MDBR) to protect mission-critical systems. For law enforcement and public safety agencies, this includes protection of critical public safety systems such as Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).. K-12 schools and universities gain access to cost-effective tools, best practices, and expert guidance to safeguard student data and maintain secure learning environments. Healthcare organizations benefit from real-time alerts, vulnerability management, and compliance support to protect sensitive patient information. Finally, critical infrastructure organizations receive real-time intelligence and response support for quickly addressing cyber threats targeting their Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Across every sector, the MS-ISAC provides 24x7x365 monitoring through CIS's U.S.-based Security Operations Center, staffed entirely by full-time CIS experts, along with rapid incident response and collaborative defense strategies — empowering SLTT entities to stay ahead of evolving threats and build a stronger security posture.
Governance & Leadership
The MS-ISAC is currently governed by an Interim Member Governance Board consisting of volunteer MS-ISAC members. Following the transition to a member-funded model in 2025, these members stepped forward to provide interim transitional governance and leadership on behalf of the broader MS-ISAC membership.
The Interim Member Governance Board is responsible for:
- Providing interim transitional governance and leadership on MS-ISAC matters
- Developing a MS-ISAC governance model aligned to the MS-ISAC member-funded structure
- Supporting a transparent, member-driven governance development process that includes notice and opportunity for member review and input prior to final implementation
- Drafting a revised MS-ISAC Charter implementing that governance model
The board serves in a temporary voluntary stewardship role. A future governance structure, defined through this process, will establish formal member leadership.
