The Season of Gratitude: CIS Cares Supports Big Brothers Big Sisters with Employee Donations

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y., Nov. 13, 2023 – The Center for Internet Security, Inc. (CIS®) and McGann Media Group kicked off the Thanksgiving season by presenting a check and gift cards donated by CIS employees to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region (BBBSCR), in support of their youth mentoring program that empowers local children to achieve their full potential.

The $5,000 dollar check presentation took place before the BBBSCR Annual Friendsgiving dinner at the City Squire in Niskayuna, N.Y. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region pairs children with adult mentors through partnerships with local colleges and universities, school districts, families, and the community at large. The goal is to establish lifelong mentorships that will help clear the path to a child’s biggest possible future.

The children who participate in BBBSCR programs face adversity at a higher rate than the average young person. 99% come from low-income homes, single-parent families, or have an incarcerated parent. Kids who have come through the program have proven that an investment of time by a stable, caring, adult role model can empower children to realize their greatest potential.

CIS Cares is a volunteer program at the Center for Internet Security, headquartered in East Greenbush, NY that leverages the time, skills, and resources of its more than 400 employees. The four quarterly campaign themes focus on support of community, animals, resource conservation, and education.

In addition to the check presentation to BBBSCR, the families received gift cards to local grocery stores, purchased with donations from CIS employees. For more information, please contact CIS Media Relations Manager, Kelly Wyland, at [email protected] or call/text 518-256-6978.
