Center for Internet Security’s CIS Cares Program Champions Literacy and Classroom Innovation

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y.,  October 30, 2025 — Focused on supporting education and literacy, employees at the Center for Internet Security, Inc (CIS®) have rallied around several meaningful campaigns in Q3, contributing time, resources, and enthusiasm to help learners of all ages thrive.

The employee-led program, CIS Cares, encourages charitable giving and volunteerism both individually and as a team, in communities across the United States. The theme for Q3 focused on education.

Fostering a Love for Reading

CIS employees raised $400 in donations for Reading Is Fundamental, and its Books for Ownership program that empowers children to build personal libraries and develop lifelong reading habits.

In celebration of CIS’s 25th anniversary, CIS Cares teamed up with the Events Team, and the IDEA Alliance to launch the CIS 25th Anniversary Reading Challenge. Employees committed to reading 231 books, and upon reaching the goal, CIS donated an additional $600 — bringing the total contribution to $1,000 and providing 200 books to children in need.

Empowering Classrooms

CIS employees voted to support classroom projects via DonorsChoose, raising $307 to fully fund two initiatives:

  • Bringing STEM to 5th Grade Students at the Linguistic Academy of El Paso, TX
  • Upcycle Innovation Station Project at Petree Elementary School, Winston-Salem, NC

These projects provide students with hands-on learning opportunities and creative exploration tools, enhancing their educational experiences.

Advancing Adult Literacy

CIS Cares also supported adult education by encouraging employees to use their volunteer time off (VTO) hours to support ProLiteracy, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing adult literacy through nearly 1,000 U.S. programs. By volunteering, CIS employees helped empower adults with essential reading and writing skills, reinforcing the belief that literacy is a lifelong journey.
