Center for Internet Security Joins the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association

Relationship will enable more seamless collaboration around cybersecurity best practices

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y., June 16, 2023 — The Center for Internet Security, Inc. (CIS®) today announced its membership in the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA).

This announcement highlights the importance of the overall relationship between CIS and Microsoft with the integration of the CIS Benchmarks with Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management.

The CIS Benchmarks are vendor-agnostic, consensus-developed, secure configuration guidelines for hardening operating systems, servers, cloud environments, and more.

By integrating the security guidance of the CIS Benchmarks directly into Microsoft Defender for Cloud, users can ensure their cloud environments are better secured from configuration vulnerabilities and meet security requirements for compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, FedRAMP, and others. With Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management, users can assess and remediate their assets against CIS’s industry recognized guidelines.

"CIS is pleased to have worked with MISA to enable a more seamless way for both public and private sector organizations to better secure themselves against cyber attacks," said Gina Chapman, CIS Executive Vice President of Sales and Services. "This relationship is a significant step forward in our mission to create a safer connected world. We look forward to fostering this important relationship with Microsoft and contributing to the MISA community."

As a security provider to 95% of the Fortune 500, Microsoft has created MISA to build an ecosystem of intelligent security solutions that defend against a world of increased threats. Today, MISA boasts a vibrant ecosystem of over 300 members with more than 250 software integrations and 670 managed security service offers.

“The Microsoft Intelligent Security Association’s vibrant security ecosystem is valuable to our shared customers because it reduces the cost and complexity of integrating disparate security tools,” said Maria Thomson, Microsoft Intelligent Security Association lead.
