CIS Benchmarks April 2022 Update

The following CIS Benchmarks have been updated or recently released. We've highlighted the major updates below. Each Benchmark includes a full changelog that references all changes.

Three New CIS Benchmarks for Linux Devices

  • CIS Rocky Linux 8 Benchmark v1.0.0 includes prescriptive guidance for establishing a secure configuration posture for Rocky Linux 8 systems running on x86_64 platforms.
  • CIS Fedora 28 Family Linux Benchmark v2.0.0 includes prescriptive guidance for establishing a secure configuration posture for Fedora 28 derived Linux distribution systems running on x86_64 platforms.
  • CIS Oracle Linux 8 Benchmark v2.0.0 includes prescriptive guidance for establishing a secure configuration posture for Oracle Linux 8 systems running on x86_64 platforms.

New and Updated CIS Benchmarks for Palo Alto Firewall

  • CIS Palo Alto Firewall 9 Benchmark v1.0.1 includes several bug fixes and CIS-CAT support.
  • CIS Palo Alto Firewall 10 Benchmark v1.0.0 includes prescriptive guidance for establishing a secure configuration posture for Palo Alto Firewall 10.

Two Updated CIS Benchmarks for Microsoft Windows Server 

  • CIS Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Benchmark v1.3.0 involves 15 new security settings, updates to settings, removal of one setting, and moves to several sections and recommendations due to updated ADMX templates.
  • CIS Microsoft Windows Server 2019 STIG Benchmark v1.1.0 involves 20 new security settings, updates to seven settings, removal of two settings, and moves to several sections and recommendations due to updated ADMX templates.

A lot of effort has gone into updating the content of these Benchmarks. A huge thank you to the Windows Community and Windows team for making this happen. Special thanks to Haemish Edgerton. The full changelogs are included at the end of both the PDF and DOC versions for download.

  • CIS Cisco IOS 17.x Benchmark v1.0.0 includes CIS-CAT support.
  • CIS Cisco IOS 16 Benchmark v1.1.2 includes several bug fixes.
