CIS, Partners Donate Emergency Kits to Children in Need
CIS Cares, a volunteer employee program at the Center for Internet Security has donated $5,000 to Things of My Very Own, Inc., to help provide children in crisis with emergency kits containing clothes, shoes, bedding, and other basic comforts. Three CIS business partners – McGann Media Group, Konetiq, and Paraphrase – collectively contributed an additional $3,500. The combined donation will make 35 emergency kits available to children in need.
EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y., Dec. 23, 2020 – The Center for Internet Security Inc. (CIS®) has made a donation on behalf of its staff this holiday season to the nonprofit organization, Things of My Very Own, Inc. The organization provides crisis intervention services to children impacted by extensive abuse and/or neglect, and those who are at risk of a child protective services intervention for not having items necessary for sustainability.
When a child escapes abuse within their home, they need support to weather the crisis, heal, and move forward. Things of My Very Own, Inc. is a lifeline for children fleeing abuse. From providing basic necessities, to teaching life skills that instill confidence and self-worth, the services lift fragile children from a place of harm to one of hope.
The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization leverages donations to offer everything from emergency food, to diapers, education, and life skills services. They also provide emergency kits that help keep children out of placement, or if placed into a home, assists the home in providing the very basics the child needs. Emergency kits include clothing, undergarments and socks, hygiene products, a backpack, shoes or boots, emergency food, a bedding set, and even a twin mattress.
CIS marketing partners, McGann Media Group, Konetiq, and Paraphrase joined CIS in the effort. In addition to CIS’s donation of $5,000, the three partners made a collective contribution of $3,500. This combined donation results in 35 emergency kits being made available to children in need.
Separately this holiday season, CIS adopted three families through Capital City Rescue Mission (CCRM) and purchased over $2,500 worth of gifts for these families. CIS Cares also donated more than 1,350 pairs of socks to CCRM.
