Supply Chain in Crisis: How Can IT Shops Weather the Storm?
December 3, 2021
When Utah’s IT team placed an order for new networking
equipment in August, the vendor said the equipment would be ready in February. A good thing, too, given that the Utah Legislature
had passed a construction plan that required IT to move its data center, which contains the state’s network core, from Capitol Hill to another location in the Salt Lake Valley by May 1, 2022.
This construction project is a big deal. The plan is to tear down both the old data center and an office building, build a museum, fix some parking issues and re-envision the entire space in question. May 1 is thus a hard deadline.
