First Ever “Voting Infrastructure Security Plan” Unveiled by Election and National Security Leaders
December 7, 2017
Last week, the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy linked up with the world’s largest hacking conference – DEFCON – to host an event focused on U.S. elections infrastructure and cybersecurity issues. Featured at this event was the release of an Election Security Plan, written by Director of Elections with the Cook County, Illinois Clerk’s Office, Noah Praetz.
The Election Security Plan outlines various strategies to help agencies defend, detect, and recover from cyber threats. The Plan recommends implementing the CIS Controls as defense tactics and policies “for each system – online or not.”
