CIS Board Member
Roberta G. “Bobbie” Stempfley is the Vice Chair of the CIS Board of Directors. She is also the Director of the CERT Division, Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, a position she has held since June 2017.
Stempfley previously served as Director of Cyber Strategy Implementation at The MITRE Corporation, and as Acting Assistant Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Cybersecurity and Communications at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. She also worked in the U.S. Department of Defense as CIO of the Defense Information Systems Agency, and as Chief of the DoD Computer Emergency Response Team, which she established.
Stempfley received her bachelor's degree in engineering mathematics from the University of Arizona and her master's in computer science from James Madison University.
A recipient of many awards, she has been recognized by CyberScoop as among the Top Women in Cybersecurity, by Federal Computer Week as one of its Fed 100, and as one of the 50 Most Influential Government CIOs by InformationWeek.
