GDPR Compliance – Why Should I Be Concerned?

This presentation will provide a general overview of the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR, that is going into effect on May 25, 2018.  It will provide some insight as to why all SLTT entities should be concerned about compliance with the regulation.  Examples that SLTT’s may not have considered will be explored and discussed.  This presentation will also provide an overview of the steps to take in determining the need for compliance as well as a general review of applying the risk management process to assist with compliance.  Information on a quick assessment tool will also be provided.

Lynne Pizzini

Lynne Pizzini - portrait - largeLynne Pizzini is the Director of Cybersecurity for Cerium Networks.  Lynne is responsible for the management, oversight, and strategic vision to advise and lead clients through the cybersecurity environment and threat landscape.  This includes the development and facilitation of cybersecurity programs to guide clients in reducing their cybersecurity risk.  Her responsibilities also include cybersecurity assessments, vulnerability management, governance, and compliance.  Prior to Lynne’s work at Cerium, she was the Deputy Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer for the State of Montana.  She has over 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry and has been involved with many security and privacy-related initiatives in both the public and private sectors.  She is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP). Lynne enjoys the training and awareness aspect of her career and likes to make dull subjects such as security fun and entertaining by incorporating magic and other fun gimmicks into her presentations and awareness activities.  In her spare time, Lynne likes to spend time with her family, golf, go 4-wheeling, and hang out at the local assisted living facility playing her guitar and singing.
