MS-ISAC Workgroups

The MS-ISAC Workgroups are comprised of dedicated members who volunteer their time and talent to assist with specific program areas and deliverables in support of the MS-ISAC's goals and objectives, such as:

Business Resiliency

This workgroup focuses on cybersecurity processes, tools, exercises, and best practices in regards to the public sector's business continuity and recovery concerns. For public sector organizations, recovery after a cyber incident doesn't just apply to technologies - it also includes the recovery to business locations, communications, and all business processes.


This group helps recommend and implement methodologies to help states with metrics and compliance in the inventory, assessment and audit of cybersecurity assets. Workgroup members team up with NASCIO every year to support the Nationwide Cyber Security Review.

Education and Awareness

Focused on recommending development of new - or identification of existing - cybersecurity education, awareness and training content for states and localities. This includes recommendation of the MS-ISAC programs for National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Intelligence and Analysis

Focused on promoting the development, understanding and awareness of actionable cybersecurity intelligence and analysis.

Mentoring Program

This program provides an opportunity for new security leaders in management positions (such as Chief Information Security Officers and Chief Security Officers) to network and learn from the experience of current security leaders.

Application Security

This workgroup focuses on connecting individuals with an interest in application security to create guides and resources to assist the greater MS-ISAC membership tackle this challenging topic.
