Operations Lead, SCA


Job Summary

The Operations Lead is assigned to the Security Controls and Automation (SCA) Team at the Center for Internet Security. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Programs, the Operations Lead will partner with other cybersecurity team members to promote the CIS mission and help support our growth. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, manage, and participate in the activities conducted by the SCA Operations team.


Duties and Responsibilities


Supervise, manage and mentor SCA Operations Technical Product Specialists

Communicate and collaborate with SCA project teams, business partners, and 3rd-party providers to ensure customer satisfaction and first-class issue resolution

Provide proactive recommendations on ways to improve service delivery

Oversee provision of and provide Tier 2 and 3 level support with respect to our Security Configuration Benchmarks, Benchmark Development Platform, and Configuration Audit Tool (CIS-CAT) and ensure escalated service requests are handled in a timely manner

Oversee and participate in the development of benchmark derivatives (i.e. Amazon Machine Images, Google and Azure hardened images, automated assessment/remediation content, etc.) and management of the official OVAL Repository

Manage and maintain proper documentation for operational services

Investigate new technologies that will improve business operations or streamline business processes

Manage system and software updates across the SCA development infrastructure

Manage 3rd party vendor operational escalations

Serve as a member of the joint leadership team providing recommendations and guidance on overall strategy for the customer

Coordinate annual training opportunities for the SCA Operations Technical Product Specialists

Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Cyber Security or related field from an accredited college or equivalent work experience

3+ years Supervision or Team Management experience, preferably in an Operations capacity

Programming experience (various languages), scripting (PowerShell, *nix shell scripting, Python, Ruby), AWS (operation + API), other cloud infrastructure, GitHub, Windows, *nix, Network Devices, databases, Web servers, application servers, Atlassian stack (JIRA, Confluence), scrum/agile

System Administration experience, specifically Tier 2 and Tier 3 level support

Strong attention to detail

Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

Excellent verbal and written skills

Excellent customer service skills


Preferred Qualifications


Project Management experience and industry recognized security certifications are a plus (ex: CISSP, GIAC, ITIL Foundations,etc.)
