Device Engineering Specialist


Job Summary

The Device Engineering Specialist is assigned to the Operations Division at the Center for Internet Security. Reporting to the Device Engineering Manager, the Device Engineering Specialist will partner with other cybersecurity team members to promote the CIS mission and help continue our growth. The primary purpose is to serve as an Engineering team member to help maintain the infrastructure used to monitor State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) government networks. Candidate would be working in East Greenbush, NY.


Duties and Responsibilities


Triage issues related to network security device monitoring
Field questions and customer requests received via phone and email to ensure all items are promptly responded to and completed in a timely manner
Ensure that all open tickets are actively being followed-up on and tracked to completion
Assist customers during the device onboarding process
Act as a facilitator between a third party vendor and the customer in order to troubleshoot technical problems, coordinate device maintenance and outages, as well as perform general device support activities
Actively work to enhance the processes and procedures used to support the efforts of the CIS Engineering Team
Perform basic troubleshooting of the CIS Albert infrastructure
Effectively transition action items to appropriate Operations Divisions in order to support off-hours, device related work
Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications


1-3 years' experience using Linux operating systems
Working knowledge of various security methodologies, processes, and technical security solutions (firewalls and intrusion detection systems)
Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, network analysis and network/security applications
Excellent customer service skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated experience and knowledge
Candidate must be eligible to obtain National Security Clearance
