CIS currently distributes six different
Benchmark audit software tools:
- CIS Configuration
Assessment Tool (CIS-CAT),
- Next Generation Tool (NG Tool),
- Router Audit Tool (RAT),
- Perl tools for Unix operating
systems,
- Apache Benchmark tool, and
- Oracle Database 8i
tool.
CIS-CAT is available to CIS
Members and licensees only. The other tools are
distributed freely to all users via this web site.
CIS-CAT IS THE ONLY SOFTWARE TOOL THAT CIS CONTINUES TO DEVELOP
AND SUPPORT. The other tools will reach end of life
when the Benchmarks for which they were created become out of
date and are no longer distributed.
CIS-CAT is a Java tool that reads XML (XCCDF) files that
specify the Benchmark rules and values, and the checks that
the tool executes to assess configuration status. It
has been released in 2007, to CIS members and licensees
